About

Vegan Izakaya Nowhere is a fully vegan izakaya in Mukojima, a few minutes on foot from Tokyo Skytree, opened in December 2024. The menu is built around plant based versions of classic late night izakaya fare: karaage, gyoza, ham katsu, pickled vegetables, and cold tofu, all made from scratch with seasonal ingredients. Drinks are also entirely vegan, with options spanning beer, shochu, sake, and a matcha soy milk that works well on its own or spiked with shochu. The space is small and split across two floors, with lantern lit counter seating downstairs and a more private table setup upstairs. Run by Yuki Koyama Daniels and her husband Richard, the restaurant plays Japanese city pop from the 1950s through the present.

Good to know

  • Sichuan pepper edamame and karaage among the most frequently ordered items. Most dishes ¥600 to ¥800; a full meal with drinks averages around ¥4,000 per person.

  • Owner Koyama Daniels previously operated hallogallo, a vegan bar in Nakano that closed in 2020.
