About

Vegan Gyoza Yu is a fully vegan gyoza restaurant in a quiet residential backstreet of Taito, about five minutes on foot from Uguisudani Station and a short walk from Ueno Park. It opened in 2021 and has since become one of the top rated restaurants in Tokyo on HappyCow. The entire concept is built around handmade gyoza in 11 different flavors, each a different color derived from natural ingredients rather than food coloring. Fillings include shiitake soy, garlic miso, ginger miso, kimchi, chives, green pepper, coriander, eggplant miso, and green onion, among others. There's no other food on the menu; gyoza is the only offering. The dumplings can be ordered pan fried or steamed. The space is small and modern, with about 10 to 15 seats inside plus terrace seating outside, wooden accents, plants, and an organic feel. The owner is a long time vegan and runs the operation personally.
