Afuri Shibuya Dōgenzaka
Quick info
About
Afuri is not a vegan or vegetarian restaurant. It's a well known ramen chain with branches all over Tokyo (Ebisu, Shinjuku, Harajuku, Roppongi, Nakameguro, and more) that built its reputation on a light, clear chicken and dashi broth with yuzu citrus. That said, it's one of the few larger ramen chains in Tokyo that offers a dedicated vegan option, which makes it unusually useful for mixed groups or anyone who wants a proper ramen experience without having to seek out a specialist shop. The vegan bowl, called the Colorful Vegetable Vegan Ramen, uses a 100% vegetable broth and swaps the standard egg noodles for lotus root blended noodles. Toppings are seasonal and change regularly. It's not an afterthought on the menu, but it is a single item on a much larger non vegan menu, so expectations should be set accordingly.
